In October 2015, Governor Brown signed SB 287 into law. This is a huge first step towards making all of California more heart safe.
With the help of those affected by sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), and various heart advocates across the state, California now mandates an automated external defibrillator (AED) in certain occupied buildings, with capacities of 200 persons or greater, constructed on or after January 1, 2017.
This bill will save many lives by making AEDs more accessible in the future, and is a signal feat for heart healthy advocates in California and across the entire United States!
